Just starting to rebuild my scoot, have got the above motor with a 28mm dellorto carb and an AF clubman. Are these settings for the carb a good starting point ?

52 idle jet
120 main jet
AV264 atomiser
70 choke
40 slide
X7 needle second notch

Cheers SKP :D

tip: use a smaller carb. 28mm is far too large for that.
24-26 will fit easily and runs better. on a slightly ported sr185 i would ride a 22mml with clubman or a 25

i beg to differ........... :D
i would rather use a 30mm...............with x13 needle............/125 main..........
but then again...............i would not dream of using a clubman.......................
if it is slightly ported.........go for the sterling or scoot rs pipe......................

got a 186 mugello, running a 42mm af clubman and 28mm phbh

after a lot of messing around (including a holed piston) i am now running the following:-

118 main
70 choke
40 slide
x7 needle (3rd clip)
50 pilot
AV266 atomiser
mixture screw 2.5 turns out
ram air filter

have now run it for 500 miles, plug colour is spot on and the engines runs well and starts first time... (touches all available wood within reach!! )

Have built SR185 cylindered engines to run with standard original 22mm carb, 22mm jetex, 25mm dellorto and 28mm dellorto. I found that for performance versus economy the 25mm turned out tops, but it depends what you want really. See little point in fitting a 28mm dellorto to a standad 185 kit with a clubman thou.

Yes, on the other hand, if you go for the 22mm and the clubman, that is an ideal run for your money. Very nice sound and a good scoot to tour around. No top speed but fun!!
