Firstly, it started to run badly and it seemed carb related so I changed the carb and it was till the same. I then changed the spark plug, checked the points etc and all seems well. The plugs gets wet and it sparks but now it's not firing at all. I'm now even thinking of changing the petrol but that seems a bit drastic. I also going to change the old original 6V Ducati coil but it seems to spark ok. Any ideas?

Have you ruled out the flywheel woodruff key possibly sheared?

Woodruff key okay and I've tightened the head. I'm wondering about the flywheel side oil seal coming out but I can't see that happening. I'm normally okay at sussing this sort of thing out but this has me stumped and it's gutting me.

I managed to bump it off but it wouldn't rev up, it seemed to very slightly get better but still wouldn't rev up cleanly. It feels so much like a carb problem but I changed the carb. Damn thing.

This seems the same as my problem that I never got to the bottom of. Hope you find the cause.

Took the stator to Rayspeed yesterday and they replaced the points and condenser. I also put on a new earth braid and HT lead. Anyway, got it all back together and she's back to normal, running great!!! It's seems so difficult working out the symptoms between whether it was carb or an ignition problem, it felt so much like a carb problem but it wasn't.
