Standard TV175 S3- anyone with a reliable rev counter give me an indication of what it should tick over at at idle?
Fitted an "el-cheapo" wrap a wire round the HT lead unit, and it appears to read high.
Any ball park figs Gents?

Me too on a standardish setup. If the tickover is set too high it MIGHT cause starting probs. I normally settle for as low a tickover as possible when the engine is fully warmed up. I thinck my Avanti ticks over at about 1000 rpm....I'll check next time I take it out.

You'll get a lower idle speed with a heavier fly wheel, if the TV is standard including electrics you could get lower than 1000rpm, if it's a lighter AF, vari, etc then it will have to be higher as there is not enough weight to keep it turning over.
