Expansion V Standard Exhaust Pipe

I am presently having a GP150 top end bored out to 175 with a head to match. Quite a mild tune really, and I wasn't going to go mad. Probably just a frugal 20mm carb with a standard pipe. But, I'm thinking now I might have a bit of fun and go for a larger carb and an expansion pipe of some kind. But is it worth it on a humble 175?

I think the cost of a new one woukd be better spent on a performance kit or maybe chassis upgrades so you can ride your scoot to the max

Actually nev and me rode to botw and he was bowling along nicely on his TV 200

Oi, it's horses for courses. I enjoy pottering around little country lanes. And anyway I've never really had a scooter that could "bowl along" before. I ride faster now simply because I can do it and it builds your confidence. Which sort of brings me back to my original question about the merits of an expansion pipe.

A mildly tuned 175 with the thin ringed piston, a 25/26mm carb and a sterling pipe can go quite well, sterling although cheap makes them rev a bit and if fitted properly (sometimes a challenge, with some after market pipes) will last. Depends what you want to get out of it.
It's still the cheapest option before buying a kit. Some may disagree with this but I had a similar set up which went quite well before going to ts1.

Ive jjust gone from 22m and clubman to 28mm and old fresco. I also tuned the barrel myself which is where most of the power comes from. The difference is incredible. Also worth lookung at geariing etc. See my thread on home tuning; be brave and have a go, was great fun! Although an iron barrel will be much harder to grind out...
Ive not lost too much torque surprisingly and when it hits the power band it flies like it never used to. An expension and big carb is above all really good fun to ride with for all sorts of silly reasons like noise and intake roar lol
