ENGINE SPEC (this years engine first real run on it)
t5 malossi 172 tuned crank tuned casings all matched standard flywheel 30 mm phbh carb on a malossi reed valve, simmonini exhaust (17.8 bhp on the dyno) Now the gearing set up, standard t5 box drt 23 tooth clutch centre 67 tooth primary, SO AM I OVER GEARED and should i drop down to a 21 tooth clutch centre

Had 21/68 on mine and it went like s**t off a chrome stick (with a Taffy Goldline).........
21/68 = 3.24:1
22/68 = 3.09:1
23/67 = 2.91:1
I'd say that yes you are a bit overgeared.

67/21 = 3.19:1
67/22 = 3.05:1
It'd definately help keep you in the power band and be better on hills and into a headwind.

On another note, mine lost no top end but gained bottom end on a 28mm, slightly better on go juice too.

My 172 ran much better on a sito plus, standard exhaust or scorpion than the simonini. Not sure how the standard exhaust works with a reed but on my worn out rotary it flys!

Only just noticed you've got it reeded.......... I'd bin the simmo, it's going to be strangling the poor beast.
