Cosa,

Where should this be set to???

Image

It was 4 full turns out, which meant fuel pissed out when the carb top was off.
When screwed all the way in, I can strip the carb and fuel will only flow when the ignition is switched.

Where should it be set for normal riding??

Shaun.

errrr...four turns out would be my guess like. its the fuel cut off screw (I think) because Cosas have an electric fuel tap (no manual tap fitted) and its to stop fuel p1551ing out when you strip the carb...as you've found. ive had three Cosas, bought for peanuts and ran as workbikes, the last one off Ted off here for £100, used it for work for a year, with a P200 carb, hole drilled in side panel and a bit of wire and a duffel coat toggle for the choke cable  great scooters.

Ok, cool.
Makes sense about the screwy fuelyl thing

Does a P2 24mm swap straight over except for the choke bit then?
This one has a massive flat spot (like overfuelling) when the throttle is opened, to the point it will stall.
Dropped the pilot and no better, carb is clean, float swapped and just the same, keep the revs up and it clears and runs well, and idles on the way down.
Could it be the auto choke sticking on?
Unplug it and no better either??

Shaun.

Aah, found it and removed it.
Exactly the same.

I am now thinking maybe its electrical, been there before chasing fuel faults to find out its stator or something.

Really though, grabbing at straws now

Update of tonights antics:

Found an old SBW thread with Bilko and others discussing the really small main jet on the 200 Cosa.
Cleaned it but didn't take much notice of it really,
Went and had a good look and it was a 96, swapped it with a 115 main and it revs and pulls clean as a whistle (never understood that phrase),
So, the big test is a 6 mile ride to the MOT station tomorrow, and fingers crossed the blocked filter was the restriction, which then allowed the undersize main jet to be lean.
2 faults but from the same cause

If it performs well, I will find a 118 and pop that in and jopefully all will be good.

Watch this space.

Shaun.

I just binned that filter and jetted the carb as per a P200.

Apart from the lack of a 118, that worked perfectly :D

Thanks for that.

I have to say though, the Cosa is a lush smooth ride, and the gearchange is just so easy and no clunk/clonk.
Amazing, just a bit fugly

one of the Cosas I had , had some good accessories on it. a great backrack/rest, like the old Volvo ones, a short Piaggio screen that actually kept the windblast off you, and , check this man, a spare fuel can in the shape of the underseat storage bay! carried an extra 6 litres of juice. that was a Spanish regd 150 when I got it, and it had a sidestand that attached to an extra long main engine bolt. it also had bits where some stickers had been peeled off , and was faded white, so I always presumed it was an ex police or some kind of government vehicle. cosas look quite good , if you put a T5 headset on them, as they fit on the forks no probs. that would have been an interesting model...the real T5 200?

Now stop being silly, it's only ever a T5 with the correct engine.

That said the best standard scooter I've ever had was a Cosa 1 CL200, Things you could argue against for sure but the comfort and roadholding alone f@@k those right off into 13 year old girls Bitching scene.
