For a tuned GP 175 which make of brake shoe for the rear would be the best value for money or are they all about the same?

I'd never used Newfren until a month or two back. Then bought a set of the sintered type. They were a right mess and didn't fit the hub. From their stock no. I believe they were old stock, 1999.

Stupidly (with hindsight  ) I got another set of Newfren sintered. This time 2002 stock and this time they fitted well and, it has to be said, they have worked well. However, having had to take the rear hub off today, I can see the hub is badly scored.

My understanding of sintered brake material is that they have "soft" metal in which shouldn't score the hub.

get a pair of ORIGINAL Innocenti shoes (you know the ones you removed that were covered in oil and you wanted a "better" set!!)

Put them in the dishwasher and wash

Replace them on bike.

They should work as good as new (and they will fit- assuming that the new improved rear hub has been built to the same tolerances......................)

Moral of the story- new ain't neccessarily better, and never throw away your old stuff.
