i'm so tired of working on this thing and i just wanna ride it!! had a 28mikuni on it and was having some problems with it running lean, there were some issues with the carb, and i have a brand new 24mikuni so i bought a new manifold and rubber and switched them out this morning, now everything fits nice and tight and i think probably better then before in regards to the carb and mount, but now the fuel rod is in the way of the carb sitting all the way in the rubber and the rod is directly over the choke knob (the pull up type).
so... what does everyone do at when this happens? i have tried to angle the fuel tap back towards the frame and away from the carb but the further back i go it gets harder to turn the fuel on, and really i don't gain that much clearance. can't go the other way (away from the frame) so now what?
thanks

I know it's not the same carb, and have no idea what bits are where on a mikuni, but I think this is better than the oe split pin arrangement anyway

this is on a series 1 with the stock lever which i've shortened and made into a male end to fit the fast flow tap which is in the stock ser. 1 fuel tank. this is a mbd manifold and mbd tour rubber. i'm starting to wonder if part of the problem is the scootrs fuel tap lever surround. while it looks really nice and matches the choke lever base, maybe t's restricting me from turning the lever to the angle i need.
i'll try that out later today and let you know how it goes.

Aahhhh, that sounds about right, I had that problem a few years ago, gave it away and stuck to rubber grommets ever since

so i sorted this out, i had an old fuel lever rod sitting around as i never throw anything out anymore! i made it into a knuckle that would fit between the lever and knuckle at the tap like this (the top one)

and that gave me enough room to angle everything and make it work, and i got to keep the scootrs tap lever surround in place.
here it is together

now i just have to get the stupid choke cable conversion to work as i have had trouble with it from day one, and get the carb dialed in, not really knowing what i'm doing!!
it never ends!
cheers
