One thing after another, fitted the 28mm manifold this afternoon exhaust and cowls, now only to find the Long bolt that goes throught the high part of inlet manifold hits the frame before enough hight is gained to fit the rear shocker back on.
I just want a reliable bike nothing super quick, just fed up with poor starting when hot.

Is it a series 2 shocker ? the series 3 shockers are slightly longer which forces the carb' and cylinder further into the frame.......just a thought...

Yes it is, thought that might be the way out of this, but didn't want to buy another shocker at the moment as the existing one is only a year old, but if its the only way, needs must i guess

Just been to the garage and my S2 shock is to long so need a shorter one, as I lift the frame to try and fit the shock the manifold bolt head hits the frame before I can get the frame high enough to fit ?

Off centre frame cones or a countersunk M7 Allen screw will sort it

Thanks for the replys, been back out to the garage and I have a 315 to centers shocker and just had a look on scoot resto and they stock 300 & 310 along with the 315 I have, It would seem the S3 shocks are Shorter not longer and that should solve my problem, otherwise the countersunk cap screw sounds like a good plan without changing the geometry of things.

I fitted a manifold yesterday to find the manifold itself hit the frame. The bolts missed by miles as they are either side of the main frame tube.
Anyway Dremel time, I ground a U shape into the manifold and polished it back up. it was 3-4 mm thick at that point. I lost a good 2 mm. It cleared the frame just so lost 3mm from the face of the gasket. Took the bulk of it off with a flap wheel, used a black felt tip Sharpie to paint the face then filed it flat and finished off with sand paper on a flat surface. I used a spare polished granite tile. The gasket face was very thick to start with and even now is thicker than the original Lambretter one I Removed. Got a good 4 or 5mm gap now job done.

Good idea, I think I might reduce the flange thickness next time it's off! I've just borrowed an S3 shock (300mm instead of the 315mm to centers) and job done easy as.
