Fork links not lining up properly...

Hi all,
My fork links are not lining up properly after rebuild (was like this before the rebuild too).
the bottom fork link stops seem to have the same height when compared back to back so I really don't understand why this is happening.
Is this common and is the solution to shave off some material from one of the stops?

Have you checked the depth of the stops inside the fork legs? Are they GP or LI/SX type forks? If you are using the 'top hat' type stops you could perhaps swap for the GP type stops and vary the thickness of each one to help take up any differences.

They are TV type legs. The depth is the same in the legs. Could it be that one of the fork links are bent? or a non Tv type? Is it wrong to shave off the buffer?

they were the ones fitted when I got it, and definitely not repro. Could one side be for a drum brake setup?

You need to take them out and see if they're level. Stickys book shows how

Just means they're not a pair, might still be useful to someone. It's also worth to check the buffers haven't got mixed up?

The symptom is rather that of one stop being thicker than the other, perhaps the paint below or the weldin differs?
Look at this photo, it's visible it's not properly seated...

Would shaving some mm of from the stop be a viable solution..?
