Suddenly this morning the kickstart on my Rayspeed Refurbed Indian GP200 doesn't engage when trying to kick the scooter over. It only happens intermittently. Sometimes it works others not. And it doesn't half hurt the base of my foot when it doesn't

worn kick start barrel teeth.- the bit that emerges as you kick down and is supposed to mesh with the teeth on first gear.
Scootering since 1968.

Ah, now you're making the assumption that a new one was fitted during the rebuild......I'll bet it wasn't and the old one has given up g d compression from the re-built engine. That's what happened to mine anyway, it still had the one in from when it was fitted to my LiS125 so was most probably 47 years oldvRSG60 wrote:Shouldn't be worn bike hasn't done 900 miles yet!

It works fine when it works. Just for 2 or 3 tries in every 6 or 8. And I've needed plenty of kick to get it going. Or it starts 1st time!!!

id have expected Rayspeed to have fitted new. But you never know. Scooter is only 9 months old after refurb.coaster wrote:Ah, now you're making the assumption that a new one was fitted during the rebuild......I'll bet it wasn't and the old one has given up g d compression from the re-built engine. Still doing it yesterday. The thing is as you slowly try the kickstart you can usually feel some resistance so you more or less know it's going to kick over, it's just the occasion where it isn't that there doesn't feel to be any resistance. As though the plunger isn't moving to engage the gear. There is a slight metallic rasping sound as the pedal is depressed.
Could the ramp be loose?
