Has anyone got experience of fitting one of these kits..? Are they good quality, reliable, etc...?

ScootRS claim you can fit them using the original GS160 10-pole ignition switch and wiring loom through the use of an add-on wiring loom that they supply with the kit, is this true..?

Also I would like to run a battery to power a 12V socket and its not clear from them if the kit can do that, anyone know...?

Any advice appreciated.

Cheers.

I bought the kit and a complete loom from them a few years ago. Still using the regulator, CDI and flywheel which have been fine. I managed to kill the stator (2 actually  ) with a dodgy flywheel side bearing that allowed the flywheel to touch slightly every revolution... but that's another story. I'd stay away from the loom though, the connectors and insulators were rubbish. Possibly they've changed since then. You should be able to use a battery - type regulator (5-wire) instead of the 3-wire one provided.

Cheers for that - just to clarify though, were you able to use your existing GS 10-pole ignition switch or did you have to use the SS180 switch type..?

Sorry, I'm no help there. This was on a Super. Good luck with it.

There are a few of these kits out now, some can be very expensive. Vespatronic, Variatronic and I think Pinasco have just brought one out. I fitted the Vespatronic one to my GS150 and had to change the ignition switch from the 8 pole to the GS160 10 pole switch. I am no electrical genius and i managed to fit it, with a lot of help I may add.

Hi Gary, (GL Scoot) just spent an incredibly frustrating day and a half trying to sort out the wiring on my Pinasco kit onto to a GS ignition switch and GS handlebar control. Trying to read across 3 different wiring diagrams and translate...murder. Got the power source squared away by connecting the red and white wires from the regulator to a 12v battery (same sketch as the brown wire from the "normal" 12 volt electronic kits) so power "in" is sorted. Rear light and brake light/ switch are tickety boo but the rest is A proper ba#tard. Any tips? Diagram I got from SIP does not have enough detail around the switches and connecting them up...10 pole headset and 5 handlebar.

Can anyone give a brother a hand here...Graham (Cartmel) maybe? Chasing shadows presently!

Thanks in advance, Shaun.
