Runs badly after refuelling

Anyone have any ideas?

Lammy is running fairly well (other than the normal crap you have fun with) but for about a year I've had problems after refuelling at the petrol pumps. It runs very boggy at low revs and will easily die, no tick over at all. And restarting is a problem (like the plug is fouled) - eventually I have to kick it over with the fuel tap turned off which indicates (to me) a flooding issue. After 10 miles or so cures itself and goes back to its normal idiosyncratic self.

I always turn the fuel tap off when I fill up and I've tried oil first, oil last and even oil half way through and it's always the same. It does not happen if I fill up from a fuel can.

Thoughts?

Oil added after petrol?
Sinking to the bottom of your tank hence poor running.
Always jiggle the scooter after filling up! :-)

Do you have a filter on the carb? If so, what type? You say it clears itself after about 10 miles. How does it run during this 10 miles and is the 10 miles around town or at WOT on the motorway, for example?

poorly sealing float needle,
Greater pressure (head) with a full tank.

I'm using castrol 2t. I jiggle it so much after fuelling its almost obscene :-/. It runs fine at high revs but almost like its not firing at low revs. As I say get none of these symptoms when I refuel via a can, only when its via the pump. I always turn off the fuel but now I think of it I haven't checked the fuel tap. Perhaps I sould check that and clean out the tank.

Stil if I'd wanted something entirely logical I'd have bought a Honda......

I always turn the tap off when refueling and restart it with the fuel off. After it's been running a minute I then switch the fuel on, sometimes a mile up the road when it conks out  .

My first job would be to take the tank out and give it a good clean out to see what's lurking in there.
