im looking at buying a electronic conversion kit which comes with a sil stator plate, are these any good or should i steer clear?

No problems with mine ( so far ! ), just check all the soldered joints and the riveted connections for tightness. They are known to give problems sometimes, but doesn't everything associated with a Lambretta ?

Yeh, I'm having this dilemma too. The range of electronic conversions is diverse and it's soooooo difficult to choose. I was looking at the Cambridge scooters varitronic but wow, what a price. Then you look at ebay and see the same thing for £80.
Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't dream of getting anything like that from fleabay but when the product is all the same colour and look you have to wonder if it might be worth a punt!
How I wish I had a money tree.
What did you go for in the end?

Just taken a faulty BGM stator off mine and put a Indian one on,works ok and i did not see any difference with the lighting.

It's funny but when you look at things price wise and try and convince yourself that if you buy cheap you get a cheap product that only last a season or two so go with the best you afford giving you the reliability and future proofing you pay for.
But the price diff between cheap and not so cheap is massive, it's driving me insane. Not normally indecisive, if I need it and can afford it and I've a plausible excuse for the wife then I'll buy it, but this is really giving me ball ache.
Plus I've also read a few down points now on the more expensive kits now.
What's the concenous here, variatronic, mg, sil, or even eBay.
It'll be on a standard set up li150 and I intend to pop a sport clubman and new barrel next year.

How about sticking with a well set up points system? if its AC you can uprate the lights to 12v using a Vespa regulator. Yeah it seems even the expensive top draw stuff isn't immune from failure- not good really considering the price

Got to be honest,i was dragged kicking and screaming into the electronic ignition era.I had made my own 12v lighting system stator,but retaining the 6v ignition system,and was more than happy with it,but now im all 'electronic'!,ive had no major issues with the various electronics ive had. Its swings and roundabouts!!!,points are bodgeable in an emergency,bolt on black 'pick up boxes' aint!!
Points bounce all over the place,Bolt on black pick up boxes dont!!
