I've got a spare top end for my TV175 and wish to convert this to 198cc's or thereabouts as per the "dealer specials" of c1962 which lead to Lambretta Concessionaires pushing Innocenti in Milan for a "proper" TV200.

Can someone point me in the right direction for a good 66mm piston with the gudgeon pin the same height as a proper TV175? (i.e. NOT a conversion piston for the LI length rod)

thanks in advance

Chris

Ive always been unde the impression and possibly incorrectly that the 200 conversion in the 60, s used a 65mm piston ?

you may be right- happy to go with that if I can get a good 65mm piston. Any leads?

I did a bit of research on upgrading my tv175 as mine was running a bit slow for my liking,i pulled the motor an inspected the top end which was near perfect and ive put it down to the exhaust....so that's all im going to alter
Anyway what I did find was ALLSTYLES do 65MM TV piston conversion with oversizes, but I also considered a Suzuki 64mm conversion...ALLSTYLLES and BEEDSPEED sell these pistons for use with a TV length rod altho I didn't confirm weather the barrel needs top/tailing with this conversion, perhaps someone could step in and confirm
Either way I guess your going to have to reprofile a 150/175 head to suit

many thanks- that may be just what I am looking for. The Beedspeed blurb actually confirms its for use with a TV length conrod and there are no alterations needed to the cylinder etc. And the "Suzuki" conversion runs from 64mm to 66mm in 0.5mm oversizes.

Thanks again

Correct me if I'm wrong but I seem to remember that the Suzuki 185 (TS185) conversion needing to use a packing plate when used with a TV 116mm rod?

From the MB Tech site - thanks to MB for an excellent resource

"175 – 190 Suzuki/MB Race-Tour conversion

175 cylinders bored to 190cc using a Japanese Suzuki piston starting at 64mm. This can be done in a number of ways.

Use the original crankshaft and con rod (116mm) convert the cylinder and head, this then requires a cylinder packing plate.

PROS: Cheapest 175 – 190 kit and uses existing parts. Excellent quality piston kits with a good selection of oversizes 64 to 65mm (Japanese) then 64 to 66mm (Wiseco) and 64 to 66mm (MB Race-Tour)
CONS: Uses existing old parts. Because of this there could be a limitation with tuning spec as the crank and con rod will be the week link."
