Part 34, how long should it be? I think some previous owner fitted a home made item...

This is the one fitted:

If anyone has one they could measure that would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you! That's really strange because the distance between the 2 bearings is about 60mm.

I thought the right hand bearing was supposed to be seated against the machined grove:

But inserting the tube the bearing won't go all the way down to the groove/slot...

The bearings must be clamped by the inners ie the spacer trapped tight, if not then there will be a preload on the balls which will then wear out PDQ.
Location is as you say from one side and the other "floats" into place, which may be a bit different on each hub. As long as all the various bits on the spindle are solid when tightened, the hub should be free to spin as designed.
As long as the outer races are not hanging out it'll be fine.

Thanks Warts - so with other words, the lhs bearing that is held with a circlip has a fixed position.

The spacer sits against that bearing, the second bearing goes in from the rhs until it traps the spacer.

The rhs bearing should not go all the way down to the edge seen in the last image but just enough to trap the spacer...?

Thanks Victor
