The stand on my Indian GP200 catches on the floor as I go round a bend. IT's not as though I'm banking the scooter over a lot but it's bloody annoying.
The stand is free to move an inch or so when it's in the raised position so this doesn't help.

Maybe needs a new spring or the stand bolts tightening..

is it hanging the same height both side?

first of all check the frame stand member to see if holes are pulled through, if they are then either hammer them flat or use a combination of thick metal bar and boltsto return to the original shape, then use metal plate stand supports to prevent it happening again, next check the alignment of the stand stops, they should be paralell with the stand leg, and finally fit a new stand spring

The stand bolts were loos and have bent. I've fitted new bolts but the stand is difficult to move when they are tightened up.

After an hour of buggering about last night I've managed to get the stand bolts fairly tight on nyloc nuts, but not fully tight AND keep the stand moving freely. I can't really see what it is that stops the stand rotating when the bolts are tightened fully.

I had the same problem with the stand going tight when the bolts were done up tight. It turned out to be the new chrome clamps I had fitted were "small" so I added a washer between them and the frame.

its quite a common problem on indian lambrettas ,especially because the crossmembers often crack and then twist a bit .if it looks like the crossmember has been welded/repaired at some time then its likely that its not in line properly .

Ideally you don't want any shims or washers between the bracket and the frame strut, if the stand jams up when the bolts are tightened I would invest in a new pair. Too much play in the stand will result in the gap between the spring lugs shortening so that when it's in the up position there isn't sufficient tension to hold it up. I had a similar problem with a ScootRs stand.

I think the problem lies in the "U" brackets on the clamp.
