I built this engine a couple of months back, and have been waiting for the customer to finish his paint/build so we can get it back and on the dyno, which happened today.

The breif was to strip his old engine, and then provide whatever new parts were required to build a nice, user friendly touring machine, with a bit of 'oomph' at the top-end. I can state that 'oomph' is in fact a technical term, i assure you

The customer owned a couple of scooters 'back in the day' , i believe one was a Webster Tune, the other an MB tune, and so coming back to scooters he wanted something fruity - but friendly (and I don't think he meant Dale Winton!). So i did this RB250 for him, it pulls very strongly from just over 4000rpm, and peaks at just under 8000rpm, with a tad more on over-rev should he ever need it. Peak power is whisker under 30bhp, with 23ft-lbs torque. Job done, happy customer.

Customer: Simon Ancliffe

Parts Required:
RB250 Kit Inc Cyl Head
62/116mm Race Crank
Delly Carb
Franspeed Super Tour pipe

Not bad Dan, I don't have the balls to go higher than 16 degrees static ignition timing with todays fuels, what head comp does it have?

I use the AF lo-comp heads on these tour set-ups, and the Ron Moss heads on the 'Fast Road' setups.
