New lower fork bearing track

Dont know if anyone else has had this problem recently but its caused me no end of headscratching this weekend. :?

Removed my old forks on my Gp on friday night and then fitted my freshly rebuilt 200 forks. Had fitted uprated springs, bolt in buffers in the bottom as the mountings for the clip in ones were mullered, new rods and links with the damper mounts welded on. Also new lower dust cover, lower bearing track and lower bearing. So began my problems. :shocking:

On fitting the forks I either had excessive movement at the bottom of the forks or to get rid of it completly they were too tight. After trying everything i could think of, another bottom bearing and new top bearing plus taking the forks out about 10 times, in desperation I managed to remove the bottom bearing track and cover from my old forks and fit them to the new ones.

Problem solved, :D forks went in first time, no play and smooth action.

Just thought I would post this on here incase anyone else has brought a lower bearing track from SR and had the same problem as if i didnt have the old bits i could have been scratching my head for ages.

I replaced the forks on my DL 150 (not wanting to convert my Italian forks) with Indian GP200 & needed to do the same.
Swapped the track over from the Italian forks to Indian & it fitted.

Just thought I would update you all on this, emailed SR on Monday and so far they havent even had the courtesy to acknowlege my email, so will vote with my wallet in future and use a dealer who does welcome criticism about s**t quality parts.

I can see your frustration... Do you know if yours is the only fork bearing track off SR with this fault, or is it a common problem... I would give them a little longer to get back to you, as they might well be checking their stock first before replying... I cant really comment on SR directly, as I have never bought anything off them... I hope they get back to soon... If they dont.... then your comments will be justified... IMO

do you mean the track was loose on the fork stem
some indian ones are a slack fit on italian forks

No the lower bearing track was a tight fit on the forks, had to use a dremmel to cut it off to fit the old one off my other forks.

When i put both bearings on it they didnt seem to fit, they seemed to rock on it as if it where to small, didnt do it on the old one i used.

And by the way they still havent replied to my email.

I've had the same problem with some remade ones, thankfully I tried the bearings before fitting the track and forks.
