Gents, slowly putting back together my jet 200, rebuilt the forks last week, new rubbers etc I stuck the front wheel in tonight only to find that its horribly out of line- ie if you look at the gap between the tyre and the forks its noticeably different on both sides. Checked the fork links, all seem ok. Running an outboard disc set up and the gap is larger on this side of the forks.
Obviously didn't check it all for alignment before I stripped it
only thing that's different from before the strip down is I've fitted new sip tubeless rims. Any ideas??!

If it's a ScootRS disc you may need to 'fettle' the back of the caliper for clearance. Did you just allow for the clearance to the caliper before checking alignment ?

Thanks for the replies, Mike- once I'd fitted the sip rim I did have to file away a very small amount of metal on the back of the caliper to stop it from hitting the wheel rim.
Had the wheel out again last night and I'm buggered if I can work out how I can move it all across nearly half an inch !! the fact that the nissin caliper is only a fag paper thickness away from the rim doesn't help.....
And yes, its a scoots rs set up.

ive had this problem with a hydraulic front hub,and it was down to the thickness of the spindle nut that sits inside of the fork links,the one that came with the hub was way to fat and threw it off centre....worth a look at

The late versions use a disc axle with the shoulder that locates in the caliper back plate eliminating the nut. The cut out for the fork peg also has a rebate on the plate.

Camel, good shout but the nut that's on there is what I would class as "slim". Going to strip the whole front wheel /break assembly down tonight and see if I can find 15mm or so.... failing that i'll just have to live with it for now I suppose..!

Isnt it an mot fail like that ?
With the hubout the measurement of the inner faces of the fork links should be around 127mm , im not familiar with the NEW scootrs hub but the furthest extent of the hub fitted together should be aboutthe same on a normal hub the outer nuts that hold it all together can vary in thickness by up to 1.25 mm , altho this wont cure your problem it mignt help the last one I did for someone I had to shave the nut down by 3 mm and pack the other side by 3mm behind the thickest nut icould find which was around 7mm thick if you dont understand any off that let me know

thanks for that shocky, think I get the jist of what you're saying. Measuring between the tyre and fork (roughly) I've got 30mm on the disc side and about 18mm on the other. Had the wheel in and out a couple of times today and to be honest the only way I can see of levelling it up would be to take some metal off the face of the hub (which has "sterling" stamped onto it on the inside) where the disc bolts on- having said that I'm sure there could be safety issues involved...
The yoke alignment bit is also in as far as it can go...

Am I missing something obvious here...?




On a brighter note I completely re did the wiring and everything worked spot on first time....!!
