Bought new gear cogs including T5 fourth gear, went to put it back together and there is no chance I will get the cir clip to fit. I am using 1mm shims at both ends, apart from SIP who do 0.90mm shims, which still won't sort the problem, i don't think. Can I fit the cir clip without the shim against 1st gear cog. Yes the gears are on the correct way.

i think i have sussed the problem, one of the gear cogs i received was manufactured by Kace and when I measured the width of the tooth it was 9mm, measured the old one and it was about 8mm. I was using a steel rule so not very precise, but when I changed the new with the old, it went back together no problem. Just got to find my feeler gauge to make sure everything is ok.

It would be nice if someone with digital callipers could measure the width of the teeth for me, 2nd gear. Before I get on the phone and kick off with the shop that sold the part, wasted couple of hours. I did order and pay for piaggio parts.

I could really only measure the width of the tooth, i knew the actual cog itself was wider.

Cheers

If its possible would you be able to measure all the widths of the gears teeth for me. I really don't want to put this engine back together and I have cogs from some other scooter. It would be very much appreciated.

Obviously measuring with a ruler was not exact, so I dug out all my spare parts and found a couple of gears and they all measured the same apart from the one I bought, so picked the best one and the new one will be returned. Going to a lot of trouble & expense with this build so wanted all new parts. Hopefully It won't be long before I get all the body work back from the powder shop, should be Friday, cash on collection no VAT, well so he says I think he adds that to the price and tells me Im getting a deal.
