After several trials with various retard units i tried the new kytronic to attempt to dial out the usual mid range 'dip' on tuned engine, the fitting and set up are very simple although can bit a bit tricky to get on the CDI as the spade terminals are not quite in line.
There is a great set of instructions on the MB site and the initial trial used the extreme settings D&E but the drop of 12 degrees left the engine a little uncomfortable on the road, it was like an on off switch.
Finally settled on curve 7 which seems a little conservative but actually evened out the engine and created a really smooth curve and even a easy ride with power coming on at lower revs and holding through the range so no changing down!
The engine spes is road tuned TS1, camlam ultimate crank, v force, TMX35 and franspeed race exhaust.

The key point was at most settings the mid range dip in timing created quite a lean spot, the change needed wasn't a simple clip change but a completely richer needle! Following a conversation with Andy Francis he also confirmed this with some work he had completed with his exhaust.
Conclusion, a great product without the expense of a full variotronic however it needs careful setting up and close attention to the jetting.
The final setup resulted in a 2.0 pilot, 310 main and the needle change was from 57 / 3rd clip to 56 2nd clip, Andy had mentioned one setup even needed a 55

Im fitting mine this weekend and figured MB's comments about that lean spot, which you have found. So I'll watch out for that if its that real. Plus sounds like we have similar TS1 setups.

Thanks for the info, I've just fitted the Kytronic myself and don't have the benefit of a dyno to set it up, so any info is much appreciated.
Do you have a before and after graph to show the difference it made?
