D 22 to D29 needle

have a TV 175 with a 24mm phbl, was running an AQ266 with a D22 needle but was always troubled by a just off tickover boggy patch, changed to a D29 and the flat spot has gone, but what about the rest of the needle range? Does anyone know how a D29 relates to a D22 in areas other than just off tickover?
