The time has come to find something better than the JL3 currently fitted to my Avanti TT3. I note that the Franspeed Supertourer seem to be sold in 2 forms i.e. there is one called and Avanti Supertourer I'm interested to know what the difference is. Anyone running one on an Avanti?

Franspeed avanti race for me Colin, gives the best of both worlds, ts1 off the line and smooth assertive tourer when in plodding mode.

I swapped my JL3 for a Franspeed Supertourer (Avanti type) and found that I'd lost a lot of bottom end and low rev power, to the point that I had to fit an Agusto 6000 to get the bottom back where I wanted it. However, once up the rev range the pipe makes a whole lot more power than the JL3 and it really extends the rev range, and top end.

Up to you. I was happy enough with the combo of Supertourer and Agusto 6000 on my TT3 so this is still my setup on my daily commuter. I wasn't so happy with the Supertourer on the TT3 without the Agusto.

Is a Jahspeed a hand made pipe?

I've currently been running a Franspeed Avanti Tourer on mine. TBH it's an excellent exhaust and gives a good spread of power. After 2 years of running it i've decided on a change and gone for a Franspeed Avanti Race. I considered the Franspeed Avanti Supertourer but thought it may be to close to the Tourer whereas the Race would offer a different ride. My take on the 3 options are. Franspeed Avanti Tourer: Good all round exhaust. Franspeed Supertourer: Similar to the Tourer but with a wider power spread. Franspeed Race: A bit less at the bottom end but noticeably more at the top end.

The Avanti exhausts are only different due the positioning of the mounting brackets, the exhausts are just the same as those for TS1's, etc

These exhausts (like all exhausts) are dependent on the correct gearbox, carb, timing, etc.

The Avanti was Dynoed at 19.5bhp with the Tourer, i'll be taking the scoot back to the same Dyno (Scooteretica) and get a comparison with the Race (next couple of weeks).
I should point out the Dyno identified a sticking choke and an exhaust blowing. I knew there was "problems" but wanted to see how they affected the actual performance, it's how it had been running to Brid'. I suspect with the choke sorted and a few nuts and bolts tightened it would have been over 20bhp.

BTW I originally ran an Avanti Clubman and found that a very comfortable exhaust with a good power spread although it was slow to pick up when in the higher rev band (compared to the Tourer).

Thanks all for the responses, my heads in a spin, I guess whatever I decide on will be noticeably better than the JL3. Must say the Avanti Race is looking interesting, I'm just concerned about slow town riding and uphill into headwinds. Mick, what gearing do you have on yours?

Interesting that Mick, I found bottom end very responsive after fitting the race, that being compared to the PM25 of course and the augusto of course.

I'm currently running 4:6 gearing (Indian GP200 box 46 crown with a 20 front sprocket), the Race is recommended to run 4:8 gearing but i'll keep it as is and see how it goes.

That's the trouble with comparing exhausts, other factors can play a major part. You may fit the best exhaust in the world (currently the Franspeed Race ) but if your gear box is too tall or short you may think it's the worst exhaust in the world. It's possible that the 4:6 gearing is too tall for the race and i may struggle to get in the power band (exhaust is rubbish sling it in the bin !!), or change my front sprocket and sing it's praises to the world......

I've got a Varitronic fitted and hope that will pick up the lower end (similar to using the Augusto), it may still need some adjustment though (i've forgot what i set it at )

if you had it dynoed then it should of been set correctly?
