Hi had a search but could find an answer so apologies if this has been asked before.

Rebuild series 1 with 186 mugello kit fitted, reed value, 26mm carb, ran greta for 500 miles, started first kick. But all of a sudden struggle to start it now without a squirt of easy start, any ideas to solve my problem. I have checked plug and it doesnt seem to be flooding, tried with and without choke.

Any ideas help appreciated

Simon

Is choke lifting ok ? strip and clean carb'.

are you running a filter ?

Its a new carb, will strip and reclean the weekend, no not using an inline filter if thats what you mean
and only using a standard air filter but have a tv2 air scoop and air box to allow more air in.

Have you tried it with the filter off?

Generally tends to be choke issues, new build 500 miles ! has the choke cable stretched or simply needs adjustment ? as Mick says check all this is working fine first, could be that simple, an easy quick check would be to manually pull choke cable to insure the mechanism is infact opening fully.

just a few thoughts other than carb , Have you had any issues with the scooter cutting out , is Plug colour ok , compression still the same , no squeeks when you kick it over ?

choke not lifting fully, head leak (well spotted toddy) re-torque head, plug fouling off slow riding, old petrol (common prob on winter builds, petrol from Bridlington going off) reed petals feathered at the edges, stator pick up f@@ked. (fit a piaggio one , they rarely go wrong) sounds like choke to me. if its starting and running ok on ES, I would look at carb. mind you , an old saying "start it on easy start, and you"ll need it forever" so an old mechanic told me.......
