Forks off

Sometime ago I discovered back and forth movement in the handlebars on my SX and it turned out the steering race bearing nut was loose. In tightening it discovered the forks fell freely one side but not the other. I tightened them somewhere in the middle ground and have been rising it for some time without too much problem. The handlebars stay straight if it take my hands off whilst riding (!) but I was aware that it wasn't completely right. So with the weather being what it is I've finally got round taking the forks out and there is a rubbing - see photo below - which looks like the pic in stickys book indicating bent forks. Is there some simple way I can check if they really are bent? Or does anyone know anywhere in the south east I can get them checked out?

Cheers

John

Good point, I did look and it appeared clear but I'll have a good look and feel tonight. Thanks.

I've had a good look in the fork tube and there' nothing obvious. I've measured the forks from the top down to each leg and it seems the same length. I've put some paint on the fork where it was rubbing and will reassemble and see if it still happens.

Anyone got any other suggestions?

Thanks

John
