As it says really, I have a 1962 Li ser 3 and the shaft has snapped where it comes out of the casing.

I've looked on the MB website and the only one they list is for GP's and state a case modification is required, what exactly does this entail?

I know an old boy with a machine shop who can do small jobs but obviously he would need to know what needs to be done.

Any advice greatly appreciated along with any alternative options.

Would anyone know if this is a later GP shaft.....

Damage to face.

You can see where the shaft has been rubbing, will this be ok?

The mod usually involves skimming a little (about 2mm) off the inside face of the casing. I think MB also do a tool for this, but you might also find it's already been done to your casing.

It looks like your casing has already been modified, could be wrong though, get a GP shaft and try it, easy enough to do.

And no, rubbing on the clutch top plate is not really ok!

Many thanks, I've ordered the bits from MB and got my head around the need for shimming correctly.
