Is it possible that some engine silent block mounts are different sizes, as I am replacing some worn out mountings and the replacements seem to be a loose fitting into the engine casing, are some manufacturers mounts slightly bigger in dia than others, manufacturing tolerances I would have thought, whose are the biggest ?

How loose ? Both sides ? I replaced one of mine and didn't heat the casing up before I put the new block in. I think I might of removed a slither of ally out of the hole doing so, as the mount can be turned by hand partly way round

The engine may have been sand blasted in the past and increased the hole on the lug. Once bolted in it won't go anywhere. Use lock tight if it brings piece of mind.

when I've had my casing blasted, it always seems to have the opposite effect.
Roughens up the surface making for a tighter fit, and have been know to have to sand down to get a fit.

I'm waiting for the thread that starts

"I've locktighted my engine mounts in- how do I get them out to replace them?" :D
