R1 Shock Vibration

A mate called me yesterday to tell me he swapped his Hagon shock over to a R1 shock with 180lb spring only to find unbearable vibration at 5000rpm. When he swapped back to the Hagon, the vibration went. My first thought is to slacken the engine bolt but the Hagon seems ok. Anyone else experienced this?

Has he got too much pre-load and dodgy damping settings?
Mine works a treat but it take a bit of setting up to get it how I like it.

Do you mean the bushes Jason? If so they're the nylon type.
I'm not saying the shock is faulty, it was supplied by Chiggy, and I'm more than happy with mine supplied by Shocky, just curious really as it was offered to him to try someone who didn't like it and his mate that had tried a different one didn't like it either, I assume they must be set up wrong

Check that it's not touching the rear mudguard.
I've seen a few that were and have caused vibrations like this.
Either space the shock away from the mudguard or bend the mudguard in slightly.

Yes never liked the idea of solid mounting them but they have been fitted to 100s so what do I know.

Just checked and aparently it was. I've offers to let him try mine with spacers and set up properly.

Got that thanks Steve. My mate hasn't bought one, he was lent one to try by someone else who didn't like it, that was from Chiggy

Don't worry, I'm loyal, he hasn't bought one yet
