I've sorted this problem but thought I'd post a few photos for future reference in case your tempted to ignore your kickstart slipping... Before xmas the kickstart failed to return to the bump stop by a couple of inches. I simply rotated it a couple of splines and just carried on as normal. But on a few occasions it failed to bite and I jarred my knee, very painful.

So last week I rolled the scooter onto the drive to head off for its MOT. It had been running fine but when I went to kick it off it went completely and felt a bit loose. I assumed it was the piston, a relatively simple job. That night I decided to strip it down and take a look, drain plug first...

uh-oh... that didn't look good. The oil didn't look too healthy either...

Once inside I discovered this... the housing had gone completely...

Piston teeth weren't too clever either...

Luckily I got hold of a case, seals and piston and rebuilt over the weekend. MOT'd today and am now ready for C2C on Friday...!

No offence but a few things I noticed on your new casing. The piston teeth are chipped, the reference pin is grooved which may be ok on GP endplate and the pedal stop is missing. These may cause problems again in the future.

None taken. The piston isn't new, it's an old one that has been re-ground. Not sure if the photo does it justice but it's fine. There is an old bump stop in the case, it's just worn out! I will get a new one, just haven't had time! The pin was the original one that was in and I probably should have changed it but again I needed to rebuild last weekend to get me back the road for C2C. It seemed to be fine and the piston was traveling up and down quite freely. One to keep an eye on and change next time the case is off. Anyway, it's working great at the moment and I'm good for tomorrow...
