Just looking for a bit of advice. Scoot has been throwing a lot of smoke out I fitted a drivesideoil seal about 2500 miles ago loads of smoke. I've checked the breather is clear and it stops if I cover the exhaust and didn't quicken when draining the oil It's been dynoed and smell isn't two stroke I decided it must be the coverplate so was planning on getting one of the steel ones from mb. My issue is that I drained the oil and there is nearly as much as I put in 2000 miles ago maybe 50ml used but surely it would have used more than that. Surely it would have used more than that I use it daily and it was smoking on the way to brid. Any advice much appreciated I was wondering if it could b oil in the exhaust from before. It's a series 2 with Japan conversion Sr 190 thanks

Is the standard test not,if the smoke is thicker/bluey colour/more persistent, and if you can smell petrol from your gear oil when you drain it??
Might just be the 4% ratio, mine smokes like mad after if I'll up,especially as I always leave my fuel tap open

Thanks for the reply mark I'm hoping it's the two stroke I can't smell petrol in the oil. I've always run at 4% so have stayed at that. I always close tap when I til up. The smoke is Defoe not a two store smell

A bit darker than I would expect from a motor set up on a dyno I'm wondering if only doing short trips on it is a factor and it may need a good blast.

A combination of over rich carb and 4% oil will mean Black plug and excess oil going out the back door.

Also gearbox oil tends to burn whitish as opposed to the blueish smoke from 2t oil when its a bit over rich.
Keep on keepin on
