malossi 210 crank inlet times

what is the best inlet timing on a crank for the malossi 210 kits

atm i have a mec eur but it looks like its been fettled with and im not sure if its true or not, as i didn't buy the crank im inclined to get a new one,

iv heard mazz cranks can twist unless i have it laser welded

bgm won't be in stock for another 4 to 8 months,

so its between pinasco or a tameni (mec eur)

which got me thinking with all these cranks they all have different inlet timings

mazz = 138/6

pinasco = 123/6

tameni (mec eur) = 112/6

so whats better?

for the inlet time to be open longer like the mazz or shorter like the tameni?

i know i read somewhere it effects the power differently,

anyone shed any knowledge for me,

i was thinking of buying the pinasco to run in my malossi 210

I suppose it depends what sort of ride you want. Longer inlet for a screamer, shorter for a tourer. Personally, I want a grunty tourer, so I want a more conservative inlet time.

I'm going for a Pinasco as it falls halfway between standard and race.

yer i think that answers my question as i want to do rallies on it and thrash it, so somewhere in the middle sounds right for me

Or you could alter a genuine stock crank, this is what I've done for my polini engine.

Doesn't that screw with the balance?

Never had any issues previously , and the Taffspeed did my last one for a malossi 210.

Stock vespa cranks are always good for tuning wether it be moding the inlet for rotary use or reed, ive used standard piaggio cranks that ive modified for reed use by machining the inner webs to allow no obstruction of fuel/air flow they work really well.
The best way would be to split the crank, cut the inlet to the desired timing and flow the casting toooo, you'll be amazed on the difference it makes !!
Ive not used a rotary crank in a malossi for years but have opted for the 60mm series pro reed crank and welded the big end pin....
Runs and works brilliant......
Give Al @ diablo moto a call he knows his onions with malossi's etc...
