Does messing around with your endcan risk altering the characteristics of the pipe?

I have a Franspeed race pipe on the RB250 motor that Dan built for me but it sticks out about an inch from the back of the scooter which is illegal as far as the BSSO regs go.

I've never found it to make much difference but why not pull that can apart and change the sleeve for a shorter carbon one ? It will make it quieter as well.

regs say no longer than ur bodywork and as its group 6 bodywork is free/ open so you can shorten the silencer or lengthen the bodywork, tie wrap a rubber duck to the back end :D
