Hi there

Got a standard T5 at the moment and am looking to change to a 172 kit.

Have looked into various things and am looking for advice on the clutch, at the moment it is a standard 7 spring 20/68 tooth is this ok. Have read some people say to change this to 21/68, what benefit would this give ( it says it upgears it what does this mean) and is a 7 spring clutch ok or would a cosa clutch be better. or a reinforced basket.

If there's any other advice anything is appreciated'

Not going to reed valve it just want a bit more power for touring and keeping up with my mate going up hills on his P2.

An no don't want to buy a P2 before anyone suggests that. :P

Cheers
Bruce

you could change to a 21 or 22 tooth clutch , depending on how heavy you are/luggage/pipe etc. the 20 will be ok for now, and the seven spring old style one will be fine if in good fettle, get some new plates and DR springs for it. a MUST is to either get your cylinder head machined , or buy a specific one like an MMW (pricey, but worth the money) they run fine on the standard carb with a 122 or 125 main jet depending on the pipe. use 3% oil . what pipe ya running? I run a 21 tooth clutch, mmw head, sito plus, 28mm dellorto on mine, great set up.

As has already been said above.
The only difference being i run a 21 tooth clutch but only use 2% oil mix.
Never had an issue..
