Hi has anyone changed a franspeed road pipe to a super tourer on their TS1 and if so could you post your thoughts (or PM me them) on the new pipe , how much better was it in mid range and was there a gain on top speed? Thanx Lammer205

I had a jl3 on my ts1 until I changed it for the super tourer may last year .The first thing if was I had to do was change the clutch 4 plate with extra strong springs to af 6 plate road clutch . When pipe hit 4500 revs it slipped, now holds the power . Then change the carb from a 30mm phbh to 35mm tmx , and had scooter put on diablo's dyno so that it was set up safe . scooter made 21.5 bhp on s2 li . The pipe made good power from 4500-6500 then leveled out a holds on to the power until 8000 revs . On the road the pipe pulls very well from low revs and after 4500 revs just keeps pulling . I am running it with an li 150 gearbox 16/46 a vast improvement on my jl3 .

Fitted mine to my TS1 & fired it up for the first time at the weekend. Great fitment & I do love the sound compared to my old JL3/Franspeed road
Not sure if the vid link will work from my facebook page but worth a try

On my Avanti, the loss of low rev power was almost as staggering as the gain of power above 6000 rpm. Compared to the JL3 that it replaced it seems like less of a touring pipe. That said, I ended up fitting an Agusto 6000 to bring back low end power and this has resulted in a nice scenario of decent bottom end plus much improved mid range and much extended over-rev.
I'd not posted this until now as the power delivery might be quite different on the reed TS1. I did note that the brief Scootering feature (new products) did state that it loses low end power when compared to the JL3 but I wasn't it to be so obvious on the road.
Good pipe and I'm pleased to have made the change but I didn't like it until going advance/retard ignition to reclaim the bottom end... but like I say, this might be down to the difference between reed and piston port inlets.
