Has anyone bought or using one of the front brake master cylinder kits from ScootRS where the use a bracket the slides into the lever part of the headset and the master cylinder is then bolted to the bracket. Are they any good, what thread do they use for the hydraulic cable connection to the cylinder.

I think 'slides in' is a little light on the effort ...looks like you need to butcher your headset.

Take a look at these fitting instructions

Good link, Yes i will need to do a little cutting and grinding on the brake lever section, but on the GS that part comes off the headset so would only be damaging that section, not the headset itself.
I have been sent an expensive alternative which looks brilliant. Its always money, money, money.
I want to put a rear disc brake and drop bars on this project as well. When will it fcking stop.

I agree, fell into that trap about 20 years ago when I wanted a GS and bought a sportique, as I couldn't afford a GS then. Finished the sportique and sold it immediately and bought a GS at a considerable loss on the sportique.

My only problem with the more expensive brake master cylinder is that its really for a GL or Rally, split headset. I will have to put two taps into the GS headset to secure the bracket. Cant show the brake system as it wasn't my find and don't want to take the good detective's credit.

I am in the process of upgrading my cutdown at the moment with full hydraulic brakes.
I use a rally/sprint headset which i had adapted to take the standard Grimeca vespa master cylinder and just used the scootRS hub and disc.
The ScootRS hub and caliper are second to none a brilliant piece of kit but the way they mount the master cylinder on the headset just looks crap.
My scootering OCD wouldnt allow me to live with something that unsightly.
