Getting ready to apply the final coat of paint (3rd) to the scoot and am intending on using wet an dry 2000 for a very light sand before applying the final coat. Is this the best material to use to take that final slight roughness out of the paint? Once the final coat has gone on i inetend to us 3-4 coats of laquer then a very lihgt abrasive compound to take out any orange peel and give a deep shine before finishing off with good quality polish..may even treat her to some auto glym.... :o

Also before i go any further does anyone also have any suggestions re treating the underside for rust, chippings etc..The underside and side guttering (right word?) of the leggies whilst primed and painted are painfully thin and pitted.....

any hints/advice for any of the above greatly appreciated.

You need to rub down between each coat so that you are not building up on any imperfections that can go quite deep. A lite rub over with a green pan scourer or fine wet and dry. Same with the lacquer. The last cote can be rubbed down so you have a completely flat surface and then use G3 with a compound pad on a drill. Keep it wet and watch out for edges, very easy to go through.

F*****ing disaster! leggies hanging off garage beams suspended by 2 peices of wire ready for final spray. yes you guessed it, it snapped now 2 great dents either side. So back out with hammer, filler, wet and dry et al.
