I'm in the process of getting Ron to build an engine and leaning towards the mikuni 35 and franspeed supertourer. Hope to run it with a cyclone (assuming I get a good enough price for my daughters from the arab slave traders ;-) ). Anyone running this set up can provide feedback?

Cheers.

My Avanti has been running a Supertourer for a few months, it happily revs out on 4.8 on a 4-speed box but I'd look to go a little longer with a 5-speed. I run mine with a remote filtered 30mm PHBH. I also run mine with an Agusto 6000 unit, which brings back some of the low RPM power that the Supertourer loses over other low revving expansions. This combo then provides good low RPM grunt, excellent mid range, plus then benefits from the reduced ignition advance and extended rev range of the Supertourer to allow this to keep revving on up the rev range (if I choose to).

I can't help with the Mikuni detail, nor have I run mine with a Cyclone but I imagine that you would be happy with the end result.

On the otherhand I would suggest the following formula (HP= Horse Power, CP= Camel Power, Lbfp= Torque, Numbers = how many horses or camels):

Power: 1 HP = 0.75 CP
Torque 1 HFlb = 1.58 CFlb

Thie is an accepted formula not really open to discussion or debate.

So at the current exchange rate (8 months ago when I last looked into it) it will all depend on your daughters saleability.

If any are above 12 years old : no value

Below 12 years old on the basis of 12=1, 11=2, 10=3 etc add-up your total HP.

Torque: Below 18 year olds have torque dropping off on a sine wave curve to 0 years old where they have 0 torque (it then also drops off incremantaly in the same curve pattern beyond 18)

An 18yr old (about to leave home) will have max torque...so this equals your con-rod length divided by your bore size multiplied your stroke (the latter expressed in cm.)

Now you have your Lambretta/Vespa/GSXR comparrison to Camels.

All you have to do now is check each of your camels output compared to standard factory specs, total the output of those and than compare them to your daughter's value calculation.

Try it, it really does work! (well if you have decent camel dealer contacts it does ;-))

Again mine is slightly different, rb260, supertourer, mikuni 35 and cyclone. all mixed in is very nice, the supertourer transformed it from just a touring engine into a tear ur arms out and touring dream, I run 4.6 gearing and did have an agusto now got a kytronic advance retard thingy on, its good for me. Roll on 2014

Fair enough: 30Flb 'vs' 19+ Stone has to have some effect on the earth's gyroscopial axis.....

Jon, 4.6 seems pretty high, I guess around 4.7-4.8 would be good with the Avanti?
