Ever try a Mikuni VM round slide?

Anything related to Lambrettas... ask tech questions, post helpful info, or just read and learn.

A MX buddy offered me a Mikuni VM28 to use. Looks to be the Japanese version of the Delly PHBH.

I cannot find much information of them being used on a Lammy. Has anyone here ever tried one?
The plan is to try it on my Rapido Classic 225.

Any insight is appreciated.

Mikuni is a great carb, not super common in the uk but very common in the US. The VM 28 should be a good carb for that motor, it's a round slide not a flat like a TM. When you get a manifold just make sure you're clear that it's being used with a mikuni.

It would work i'm sure but it won't give you more performance over a dellorto round slide anyway because its a....well... round slide.
All round slides have to be jetted slightly over rich at low throttle openings to be safe due to the eddy currents created by the round slide, that is why a flat slide is an all round better carb due to improved throttle response at lower openings because flat slides cure the eddy current problem that round slides have.

Rats, I just ordered a new manifold. The outlet dia. between a Delly and a Mikini is only a 1mm difference. Did not know there was a specific one for Mikuni.
What is the differance?

"Proper Carb" like a 28mm PWK? That is my first choice.
The VM was offered at a good price, $0.00.
Too bad JustLambretta only sells a 30mm PWK. ;)

But I do the see the difference with the PWK type manifolds from your store. Thx.

I spent a year tuning the VM carbs on my RD350 from 75. They're a bitch to set up. I would go for something more modern.
