Can anyone give me a recommendation for a list of the bulbs that I need for a 6v points AC ignition with 12v regulator please?

I want a high power halogen headlight but wonder whether the festoon, speedo and tail light could all be LED. Or am I better off just having the tall light in LED?

Compared to bulbs I can find on Amazon/eBay the one some dealers are selling seem very overpriced, especially tail lamps so I thought I would try finding them myself.

Speedo bulb I use one of these - different colours available - http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... 0975520665 I use a green one, makes me look like Shrek apparently
I am playing all the right notes, but not necessarily in the right order.

What power would the speedo and festoon bulbs be?. Is 5w the correct size? I know that the tail light is a 1157, but is it 21/5w?

I think that 1157 is just a reference to the type of bulb fitting. It's for offset pins BAY15d. LED bulbs draw less current from the system so replacing, tail light, speedo and festoon bulbs with LED versions should stop the drain on the headlight when the other bulbs are used, ie, hitting the rear brake.

Festoon LEDS tend to be single sided, put a dab of hot glue or epoxy to stop them turning round. The larger flat PCB type are great for series 1 type rear lamps http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/31mm-12-SMD-L ... 336b9f3022 but they may not give you the same brightness on AC as they do on DC.
These look intersting for the project minded. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Straw-Hat-12V ... 2585db2c62
These are the SMD type.

SMD tend to be brighter than the conventional dome type LED. You want ones that are multidirectional to spread the light round the reflector. White will give you a numberplate light and keep the MOT man happy. Red will give you a very red hotspot and not a lot elsewhere on the lens. Your MOT man may ask you for a white numberplate light.
Cree LEDs are amazing but unless you are fitting high intensity marker lights or spots they are too bright.
PS the ones shown above are just examples from ebay. I have not personally used these suppliers.

PS I tried a multi SMD spotlamp bulb in my pathfinder. It was crap giving lots of seperate twinkling hot spots and no beam at all. it lit up and that was about all that could be said. So LEDS are a not one type fits all situation im afraid.
