Does anyone have any experience of the Atomic one piece clutch spider and one piece pressure plate that are suitable for 4-6 plate set ups? can these be bought over here or are they only available from ScootRS?

Anybody using them and are there any problems with them? thinking about buying some to try as they look like good items and pre import tax prices look fairly good as well. Any comments welcome.

I sell the spiders [£49.99] and the pressure plates [£39.99].
I just rebuilt my Imola clutch with the following parts.
MB 47T crownwheel £100
RS spider £50
RS pressure plate £40
6 BGM thin Red plates £27
5 1.2 steels £15
2mm top plate £6
LTH springs £8.
2 crownwheel bearings £8
Total £254.
Wouldn't have been much cheaper set up as a 5 plater.
A saving could have been made using a scootrs crownwheel but they're not machined properly [in my eyes] to accept the bottom plate tabs so I didn't use one. Only other deep crownwheel I had in 47 was an MB one, so I used that.
Trouble is I haven't got a frame to put it in at the minute, it all operates well but the proof of the pudding will only show when I try it out. I built it just to see how they work. In the real world I'd have saved a few quid by just buying the AF Indian 6 plate cassette clutch at £225. Using all MB parts it'd be around £400.
Inbetween, price wise, you've got the Readspeed 6 plate at £300 ish.
Pays yer money, etc.

Mind you there was feck all wrong with the 4 plate that had been in it for 5,000 miles.

Cheers Martin
I realise that when it all adds up I could buy an AFR one, however I currently run a Surflex 4 plate in standard crownwheel, spider and pressure plate with MBD springs in my Imola and it is just starting to slip (still useable). I am after something that I can build up over the next couple of months as I already have some of the parts (5 plate Surflex, top plate, steels) and that I can carry spares on long runs that are compatible with the rest of my riding companions, i.e next years Euro!

Thanks for your points above and I will be in touch in the near future. (just received my anti dive conversion kit from you) Andy

Get yourself the Readpeed 5 plate kit which is designed to work with standard clutch components. At £49.99 they are fantastic value and hold my 21bhp Imola no problem. The only things I changed where the springs. I replaced the Ones supplied for MB ones because I know they work. The ones supplied are probably fine too it's just a personal choice nothing else. I messed about with almost every clutch going before I chose this one I wish I'd found it earlier it would of saved me time trouble and money.

I'm running one of the atomic 46 tooth crownwheels and spider with a standard GP pressure plate, found it to be very good to be honest. After my original Innocenti one gave up the ghost (couldn't file anymore off the crownwheel basket) I wanted a crownwheel with the hardened centre to use needle bearings as before, so at the price was willing to give it a punt. My set up is scootRS 46 crownwheel & spider, standard gp pressure plate ,readspeed 5 plate + centre spring in a race rapido 225.Taken it apart for its winter overhaul , all still spot on, everything expect the plates been in about 2 years now. Maybe have fell lucky with the crownwheel, I don't know.
I am playing all the right notes, but not necessarily in the right order.

Many thanks for the responses guys, I think I will start to put things together ready for a clutch change in the new year using the ScootRS parts and my Surflex 5 plate, at least this will allow me to add another plate or two should I need it. My Imola currntly produces just over 21 BHP and looking to add a Fran Race exhaust to this so should lift it a bit more, and if funds permit may be some more porting work and a 62 stroke crank in the future.

Once again many thanks. Andy
