Yes I did a search "The following words in your search query were ignored because they are too common words: running"
So I'll ask the question - I picked up my GP200 from AF Rayspeed on Saturday I asked Ray about running in and he said - 30-35 mph, and as I understood it, for 500 miles. :o

I've seen an AF Rayspeed data sheet online that gives conflicting advice, albeit for a Rapido, -
1st 100 miles stay below 35 mph and vary rpm
Next 200 miles stay below 45 mph and vary rpm
Next 200 miles stay below 55 mph and vary rpm

So, did I misunderstand Ray and take the data sheet advice?

I dont know what there advice is and you will get 100 different answeres to that question without knowing what the piston to bore clearances are itshard to say I can only sayhow I do my running in:
Piston to bore clearance 3.5 tho
I use a good quality mineral oil to start and vary the speeds upto 40 mph for 500 miles but often open it right up in first 3 gears this forces exhaust gasses into the piston ring land and forces the rings awayfrom the piston and onto the bore thus wearing away the high spots next 500 miles riding it upto 50 ish for short periods again gojng through the gears hard and fast next 500 upto max speeds when its been well warmed up for a few mins only
Then after that ride how I like but having drained the tank and carb of fuel and run on branded or well known SEMI SYNTHETIC oil, I also up the main from start by about 3 sizes and retorque the head at 200 miles and 1000 miles ,
No disrapectto any dealer but I would check the flow rate of the fuel as well and fit a fast flow tap , and check the fuel cap is breathing as well dont forget to check the plug colour as well when you change the speeds you will be sitting at ,
Good luck with your new purchase is it a standard sil 200 unit or has the engine been split and parts checked/thrown away/upgraded ?

Stard SIL with a Jetex (I know) carb and a Fresco exhaust.

Not really had any probs with jetex carbs more so with wornout 40 yr old dellortos ;) ive been luck that I had alot of jets and atimisers that were dellorto so have swapp3d them just to be on the safe side I suspect you will have a jet around the 130 size then with a pipe fitted

I've not looked into the finer points, I left it all in the hands of Ray.

Totally agree with Shockys method

The only other thing I tend to do is loads of short sharp cycles- A couple of miles up and down the box and using engine braking a lot, then back to base and let it cool down.

Then repeat for about 250/ 300 miles.

Works OK for me, but everyone has their own views

use cheap shite 2 stroke, kick its head in round the doors, take it easy on long straights, and leave it on high tickover as long as you can at the bottom of the garden. do this for 2 weeks. job done. its all ive ever done, ive never done the "500 mile" thing, I think its a load of b@11@x.

Mate,that's it!! I've always done that too. No issues but others will say no! A man with a tash told me this way years ago and never failed.
