Having a bit of a winter service on my imola. Whilst looking to change the piston rings I noticed the pin has worked loose and has embedded itself in the groove where the ring sits. Piston is perfect apart from that. Second time this has happened except last time it came out and scored my barrel. Question is can I still use the piston even though the ring will keep moving in the groove. If not any recommendations out there for a replacement. These ones cost me £148 each and have both failed within a year. Could do without shedding out that much again. Cheers boys.

You cannot use the piston without the ring pin. The ring will wear the groove, but more importantly it will rotate and jam in a port.
If it were mine...............i would make and fit a replacement ring pin. 8-) You may or may not wish to attempt that. ;)
