Im planning on re building my engine over the winter months and would like the forums opinion and advice on set up. 125 reed valve casings, I would like the set up, to be quick of the mark and good acceleration through the gears not bothered about reaching 70mph. Its a city used scooter, very rarely on motorways and used daily. Current set up,
Standard primary drive - upgrade recommend
Would like to use the Polini Barrel - as I have this at the moment, casings matched
Clutch 21 or 22 teeth
Exhaust SIP road, would like to keep this.
Carburettor 26mm PHBH Dellorto, standard set up, will need to look at the jets ect. RD250 reeds in the manifold
Pinasco Flytech ignition and flywheel - would like to keep this as well
The questions I really need answered are what size of clutch and do I need to upgrade on the primary drive.

I will need to check which ones i bought. I know price is not everything, they were bought from SIP and cost a fortune, but doesnt everything cost a fortune from SIP. I would love a reinforced clutch, but at £200, is it worth it.
I am also planning to buy the Worb5 reed valve crankshaft, which aint cheap either. I think by the time i fanny about buying all the gear I would be cheaper buying a P2.

In a powerful scoot like this and for mainly city work I would put a P2 cosa clutch with banded basket and some stronger XL springs. And I would port it to suit a 21 tooth clutch. If acceleration is more important for you than economy then swap the 26 carb for a 28.
At the heart of any tuning project is the port timing of the barrel. How high it revs and how much power it could make is decided here. If you want yours to go faster than everyone elses then dont forget about the barrel!

I took some advice and have used a banded old style clutch with stronger springs in my 210 and i have never looked back. Being a Yorkshire man and tight this proved to be a great cheap option for my clutch

I just put better plates and stronger springs in my clutch and seems more the man enough for the job .As for the reeds i used to use the red carbon ones for a better spread of power but the white ones are better for acceleration and can be bought in sheets that will get about 8 sets out of them

Your set-up is mismatched.
It seems to me that your inlet arrangement is already capable of supplying much more than the rest of your engine knows what to do with.
so the Worb5 crank wont produce any benefit.
The cylinder and pipe you have are touring orientated so if you want traffic light acceleration go for an expansion chamber exhaust and a more radical cylinder. Or get a man in to do some porting.
