I removed an indian electronic stator lately and found the white wire was melting , it had begun to melt all the way from the stator to the cdi , what is the white wire for and why would this happen , thanks.

The white wire is usually the earth on most electronic stators.

As to melting that would suggest too much current flowing or an underrated wire.

What's the resistance between the end of the wire and the stator core?

Agreed, and it also points to a missing or very poor earth connection between the engine and the frame. Is the braided lead in place from the back of the mag housing and the frame strut?

That adds up , the copper earth wire to the frame was broken, i'll solder a new white wire on and add a new earth to frame thanks , also thanks for the pm i received explaining things..

Normally there is sufficient connection between the engine and frame via the gear/clutch/rear break cables but they cannot be relied upon for a good earth.

On an electronic ignition there is absolutely no need for the engine to frame earth braid. The white wire should run direct from the stator to the Cdi which in turn should be correctly earthed to the scooter frame.
