I want to make my own cdi/reg mounting plates ,what is the best materials to use ,thinking os some scrap alloy plate?

I always do this Ian. I use 4mm aluminium plate fixed on 6mm studding through the original coil fixing holes (they need drilling out, obviously)

I favour mounting the cdi to the backing plate via a rubber exhaust bobbin, this insulates it from vibration and might help it live longer.

I've seen someone use one of the old plastic chopping boards before. Various thickness's and cheap to buy and easy to work on.

I have some nice alloy plate from my local machine shop ,he gave me 3,4,6mm scrap bits ,all for a pkt of biscuits for his tea room ,well pleased.
