hi,got a new gearbox, the gear cluster is a very tight fit into the endplate bearing, when trying to tap the endplate on its going on at an angle and destroying the layshaft roller bearing, was thinking about freezing the cluster to ease fitting it over the bearing and cutting down an old spider and using as a puller, any tips/info welcome,
brian.

Polish the cluster with emery paper just enough to push it in the bearing. A lathe is best or a large pillar drill to hold it.

made up a dummy bearing holder and put it in the vice then spun the cluster by hand and used a very fine file, took very little off, sorted.
