Built a rapido 225, really spluttery until on full throttle?
Set up is :
MB clubman ( running far too close the footboard strut! )
30mm phbh with Marchald filter
1.4 squish
Af ignition.
AF low comp head
Dial gauged and will strobe this afternoon prob to 18 degrees

It was dynoed so I assume the jetting is pretty much ok.(128 main) It was burning gearbox oil so just changed the oil seal.

Would the plug gap effect the running on an af ignition and are they sensitive to a particular cdi?
Any help much appreciated

Is it spluttery on a normal flat road or when going up hills? Only reason I say is ,had the same problem a while back with a Rapido 225, similar set up but with an 48mm clubman. Convinced it was : the exhaust ,CDI, HT lead, spark plug, suppressor cap, checked the new BGM stator all the readings spot on. As time went on started to do it on the normal flat roads as well. Changed the stator back to the old Indian one, problem solved. On checking the LT coil (after some good advice off Coaster & Toddy) the LT coil was breaking down under load and was giving the same symptoms you describe. Timing wise got mine set at 16 BTDC static, main jet 122. Anyway hope some of that may be helpful
I am playing all the right notes, but not necessarily in the right order.

I have exactly the same set up and it runs a dream. Dyno'ed by Dan and results posted on here in "Scooterotica Workshop" section. Sounds like the LT problem to me.

if you're "spluttery" up to full throttle would that point to mid range jetting problems ? Whats your slide, needle, atomiser and pilot ?

Cheers for the replies
Tried with filter and without, no real discernible difference.

I'm thinking its way too rich so gonna try a few carb changes tomorrow, will update as soon as I get it to be rideable! :?
