I've noticed on information about the Avanti TT3 kit that Ron has modded the piston with a couple of small holes to lubricate the exhaust bridge.
Just wondered if there is any info out there on this type of mod in general i.e. pros & cons, position & size, application for road/race etc. Infact any info at all would be interesting.

Cheers

I tend to do this as a matter of course on any rebuild- just a couple of 2mm holes in the piston skirt either side of the exhaust port area. I also open out the outer part of the holes with a larger drill to form a "pit".

Most "old school" tuners claim this adds additional lubrication and cooling to the exhaust area.

Does it work?- never had any seizure problems or nip ups since doing this. Whilst not conclusive evidence it seems to work for me.

Thanks Chris, thought I might do something along those lines to my Rapido.
