Speedo Drives - AGAIN

Having replaced the backplate on my disk hub with a hydraulic one I cant get the speedo drive to work.

I've had it to bits a number of times and I'm now sure this seems to be related to the aperture where the worm drive fits in the backplate. Once engaged in the hole at the bottom it simply wont turn.

The same worm works perfectly in the old backplate :-S

Is there any difference between earlier disk backplates and later? The one which does not work is earlier with the grease nipple and the one which does is later, without.

As I have a SIP speedo I'm looking for some ideas on how to mount the sensor for the magnetic pickup.

Has anyone made it work with an inboard disk hub ?

I was sure I saw somebody had done something clever like putting it in the original speedo drive hole but can't find the thread?

Didn't occur to me that you could use the grease nipple on that side...that might work.

Here's the thread you were thinking about, don't know if he ever got it working but it was a really neat idea!

and here's another one for mounting on the rear wheel, similar, but not the same as my mounting.
